Feng Shui for Prosperity

by Anita Adrain

Would you like to attract more abundance in your life? How would you like to be a Money Magnet? Using the 2000 year old principles of Feng Shui you can enhance or activate the Chi (energy) to increase prosperity in your life.

Prosperity can come in many forms as everything is ENERGY! Sometimes it shows up in the form of money; the green stuff that is generally associated with wealth. Sometimes it will show up in the form of abundant ideas, an abundance of friends or loved ones or abundant opportunities.

Anita AdrainRecognizing your current level of abundance in all aspects of your life will attract more of the same; an attitude of gratitude creates more to be grateful for. Where attention goes, energy flows. So it's imperative that what you focus your attention on in the prosperity area of the home denotes abundant and positive thoughts. In Feng Shui we look at the home environment as being holistic, similar to our physical bodies. The mental state of the body can affect the physical state and the physical state can affect the spiritual state of the person. Your home is merely an extension of your personal self and similarly must be viewed as holistic, having a mind, spirit & body.

The Wealth & Prosperity area is situated in the physical aspect of the home. When applying Feng Shui principles to any environment we divide the home into nine areas called "guas". Although, every area of the home is important as it is interconnected, I will focus this article on the Wealth & Prosperity gua.

If you were having financial challenges, would that have an affect on your close intimate relationships? Would it affect your Career? Your Health? Would it affect every aspect of your life?

Yes, absolutely! Applying Feng Shui principles to one area of your home can have a positive impact, but to truly gain amazing results I would recommend evaluating the WHOLE environment.

When you enter your home through the front entrance you can locate your Wealth & Prosperity area as the room or space in the furthest left hand corner. If you have any attached garages or decks in the south west corner they must be included as well. If this is the case for you, it is likely that part of your abundance lies outside. This could suggest that you have several sources of income, one that is more lucrative than the one left out in the cold. The best way to tell is to look at your results! Is your wealth & prosperity coming in steady streams, multiple streams, a trickle, just enough to make due? We've all heard these sayings before "I may as well have flushed that money down the drain" "That deal is in the toilet" "I've been left out in the cold" If this is true for YOU or someone you know then you need to seriously look at what's in your prosperity area of your home. There may be a sink or bathroom that is sucking the positive chi down the drain. Your prosperity area may be sitting outside on the deck, six months in the cold and six months of sunshine mixed with rain. The positive chi (energy) invisibly flows through your home similar to a stream. The goal then is to allow the chi to flow freely through your home, meandering gently, and breathing life into everything in its path.

Take a very close look at this area of your home and correlate any recent financial results. This will give you a clue as to what possessions are supporting your financial goals and which ones are draining your bank account. Do your possessions shout mediocrity? Do they need repair? Do they hold impoverished thoughts? Do they say luxury? What are your possessions telling you? A crystal family heirloom might suggest wealth to one person and lack or limitation to another, depending on the deep seeded emotions that are attached to that particular object. A priceless hand painted vase might also suggest prosperity but if it were received as a wedding gift and if the marriage is now over? (No don't smash it on the floor, you can sell it!) It may hold feelings of resentment and pain that could also be linked to ones current financial situation. Perhaps there is a fireplace or symbol of fire in your wealth & prosperity gua, that could potentially be burning your abundance or you personally could be "burnt" out at a current occupation.

There are many. many Feng Shui cures or remedies that can be applied to any home environment.

Generally speaking there are several changes or enhancements that you can incorporate right now today! I do however suggest that as each home is as individual as the person(s) living there that you consider a personal Feng Shui home evaluation. The first step in activating or increasing the amount of positive chi (energy) into the home is to DE-CLUTTER! Holistically, subconsciously you will feel more relaxed and at ease in a natural setting with a gently meandering stream of water, compared to an overwhelming waterfall. Everything is energy and everything is connected, what's going on in your Outer world will have a direct impact on your Inner world (well being). Clutter creates chaos and confusion and holds onto energy leaving it stuck. What happens to a pond of still water? It becomes stagnant, and attracts less than desirable characteristics. Would you rather sit by a stagnant pond or by a meandering stream? So get the CHI moving. Your goal is to LIVE with what you LOVE and absolutely without question supports the person(s) you are today.

What are your possessions saying to you; do you associate feelings of empowerment or disempowerment? If you've been holding on to "stuff" that has no meaning or negative meaning than it is no longer serving you. It's time to release it, let it go and see what new opportunities the Universe has in store for you! (Out with the old and in with the new) After you have de-cluttered your wealth and prosperity gua you can enhance with items that suggest wealth, abundance, gratitude and prosperity for YOU!

When you apply Feng Shui principles to your home environment you can choose traditional items that hold deep Chinese symbolic meaning, or enhancements that hold special meaning for you. According to Chinese legends, the "lucky bamboo plant" brings good fortune to the owner and is symbolic of happiness and prosperity, hence their recent popularity. If you like live plants, great! If you don't, then your lucky bamboo could potentially be "unlucky" if you are not willing to care for it. Other traditional "wealth" enhancements might include, jade Budahs, money frogs, wind chimes, dragons, elephants with the trunks up, turtles, aquariums with gold fish and Chinese coins. Personally, I say if you like it and or love it and it holds symbolic meaning of prosperity for you, then you should use it. In my home I have a combination of traditional Feng Shui chi enhancers mixed among eclectic items that hold deep meaning for me.

In Feng Shui the colors that are associated with wealth and prosperity are green, purple and red. Green is symbolic of new and abundant growth. How many blades of grass in your lawn or leaves on your tree? Likely too many to count, nature shows us everyday of the abundance that surrounds us; it is only our conscious and subconscious thoughts that limit the supply. The colors red and purple are considered fire energy and help to stimulate the senses or activate the chi. I would recommend a hint of caution when stimulating the wealth and prosperity gua with the use of color. Green is also considered a wood element and can be burnt up by an abundance of fire energy. Similarly this area with too much metal energy would lessen the wood energy, cutting it down considerably. Adding water would feed and nurture the wood energy, putting a damper on the fire. Everyone is intuitively drawn to a particular element of nature and most often it dominates a client's home environment and can have a serious effect on the emotional and mental state of the person(s) living there. The affects and balancing of the Five Elements in Feng Shui will have to be another article, another time.

Every room in your home, be it the bedroom, office, bathroom, laundry room has a Wealth & Prosperity gua. When entering through the door of any room you can easily locate this gua in the left hand corner of the room. Clearing the clutter in all the rooms and enhancing with possessions that hold thoughts of abundance will magnetize your home for more of the same. Live with what you love and welcome the winds of change to breathe new life and energy into your home…your castle.
