BUSINESS COACHING
Increase Your Efficiency at Work
Your Inbox
Set specific times to check your emails. First thing in the morning, midday and 3PM usually work. Quickly respond to as many as you can; file the rest in the appropriate folders that you can create with your email program.
Newsletters - take a moment to opt out of the ones that are no longer relevant or beneficial to you, instead of deleting them as they come in.
Interruptions
If a co-worker or employee is a source of constant interruption set a specific time to talk with them. For a co-worker suggest getting together for lunch or coffee.
When an employee keeps coming back even after you have met with them; look for a pattern behind their problems. Are they afraid to make decisions? Are you giving them enough authority to deal with clients, customers or suppliers? Do you need to address their problem solving skills?
Meetings
Schedule regular staff meetings and be open to constructive criticism and new suggestions. This keeps things moving forward and makes for a more stimulating work environment.
If you are an office of one, schedule some time once a month to review your business: Examine why you may have lost a client, check revenue flow, make sure that your adverting is still getting results, look at the people who make up your 'informal' team i.e. accountants, lawyers, web designers, web hosts, suppliers, your bank, are they meeting your needs? Finally, don't forget to assess your client list; is each working relationship still mutually beneficial?
Take Care of Yourself
Schedule breaks, they will make you more productive. Have energy boosters that don't contain sugar at your desk such as; water, fruit, raisins and almonds.
